 The common wren, also called reactive (Troglodytes troglodytes), is a passerine bird of the Troglodytidae family, it is a sedentary bird and lives mainly in humid and abundant bushes. Typical of Europe and the Mediterranean regions, in Italy it is present in all regions, where it assumes a sedentary behavior. It breeds throughout the Italian territory up to the Alpine and Apennine areas.

But it can also be found in northern Africa, in the territories ranging from Morocco to Libya. The natural habitat of the finch is made up of woods rich in vegetation, bushes, and hedges. It prefers orchards and cultivated fields but it is not uncommon for it to come close to urban centers.

The Goldfinch feeds on thistle seeds, woolen thistle, and sunflower seeds, as well as those of agrimony, chicory, dockyard, Senecio, dandelion, Crespino, which it manages to open thanks to its powerful and robust beak, suitable for breaking and piercing. This bird starts singing around 6, with a song consisting of several vocalizations and more intense during the mating season.

Il Passero misura circa 15 cm di lunghezza e 32 grammi di peso. Generalmente il passero è di colore marrone scuro e presentano una macchia grigia sulla testa che varia in base al sesso e all’età. Il becco è piccolo, appuntito e a forma di cono con cui è bravissimo ad aprire semi.
